A couple of weeks ago I did a whole body detox cleanse for some specific health reasons. You can read part 1 How and Why I Did a Whole Body Detox Cleanse, Should You? This post is phase 3 of that cleanse, in which I focused on doing a kidney and liver cleanse.
I started with the kidney cleanse, right after finishing phase 2 of the lymphatic system detox.
The kidney detox cleanse portion took three days. As far as food goes, these 3 days I restricted my eating to just watermelon. I also drank plenty of pure water (and some with organic lemon juice squeezed in), cranberry juice and herbal teas.
Watermelon was chosen for a couple of reasons. First, its made of primarily of water, and it’s a diuretic, so aids in flushing the system. It has great potassium content. This aids in break down of kidney stones naturally, and helps to lower blood pressure. All of which helps to cleanse the kidneys.
I also kept up with dry skin brushing and soaking in Epsom salt baths.
When the 3 days were up, I switched over to a liver detox cleanse.
This portion of the whole body detox plan I went on was probably the toughest in many ways for me.
See the disclaimer on phase 1. Consult your health care practioner for your own health care needs. I’m simply sharing my own journey, based upon my research. I know many people decide to do other methods when attempting to detoxify a liver.
The liver cleanse also lasted three days. During this time I ate organic steamed vegetables and plain brown rice.
I also drank plenty of fresh, clean water. I drank 2 cups of beet juice. One reason this portion of the detox was difficult for me, is I don’t like beets at all. This part required me to just power it down. Yuck. I also drank 4 cups of organic apple cider per throughout the day as well.
For supplements I took garlic capsules and milk thistle.
Here was an odd part of the cleanse. On the last day of the liver detox cleanse, right before bed, I drank a mixture of a bit of organic lemon juice, 6 oz of (good quality) organic, cold pressed olive oil, and 1 oz pineapple juice.
When a person drinks it, it should be guzzled down all at once. Immediately lie down on the right side and curl up in a fetal type position. Lie still for half an hour. After that half an hour, go to bed for the night.
Some people report feeling nausea with this, so keep something nearby just in case you vomit. Usually if nausea is there, it passes quickly however. Over the next few days, some people pass ‘stones’ in their stool. Word of caution, should you decide to do this, make sure you don’t have to be anywhere the next day, and have access to a bathroom. Enough said. For me, it lasted only the morning hours.
I tend to be someone who gets nauseated easily, so I was concerned about this portion. About 20 minutes before I drank the concoction, I made an ‘anti-nausea’ formula of essential oils, in a gelatin capsule. I was thrilled when I experienced zero nausea from this.

- turmeric (feature amazon)
- ylang ylang
During both the kidney and liver detox cleanse, I also filled a glass rollerball bottle with an essential oil blend, designed to support both organs. I applied it three times daily to my abdomen and back, where the kidneys are located. Here is my recipe for that.

Lastly, I still continued taking a good probiotic and focused on reducing stress and getting plenty of rest.

As I finish the kidney and liver cleanse, the next phase of this whole body detox will be the last of this series. It will be on heavy metals and parasites. I will also report my results of this whole process. It’s been intensive, yet so far, so good.
Until next time,
