Welcome to Aspiring Homemaker Blog

Welcome to my blog, Aspiring Homemaker.  My hope is that you’ll find this place a source of inspiration, and encouragement to the difficult task that you do.

Wikepedia defines homemaking as: Homemaking is a mainly American term for the management of a home, otherwise known as housework, housekeeping, or household management; it is the act of overseeing the organizational, day-to-day operations of a house or estate, and the managing of other domestic concerns. This domestic consumption work creates goods and services within a household, such as meals, childcare, household repairs, or the manufacture of clothes and gifts. Common tasks include cleaning, cooking, and looking after children.

This doesn’t even begin to cover it all!  Whether our homes are large, small, modern, rustic, and every style in-between, creating place in our living spaces for our families to enjoy, and a place where life happens takes dedication, work and strong creativity. Whether we are young, middle aged, or old, with children or without, we all have places we call ‘home’ amidst a wide variety of circumstances.   Its sad that in our culture, too many times it is undervalued and under-appreciated.

Our living spaces are our ‘safe havens’, or at least, they should be ideally.  It should be a place that we love to be, whether we are a certified ‘homebody’ or not.  A place where when we come home after being gone, feels like wrapping up in a warm, cozy blanket on a cold day.  A place where we can let our hair down, a place to simply ‘be’.

I’ll also be including blog posts concerning health, beauty and fiances, as those are also topics of interest in many homes (and to me), which I hope you will find valuable too.

It’s also a place where we can leave a legacy to our loved ones, which is a tall order.   Remember our own growing up years, and home.  It may have been a good experience, bad or mixed, but usually there can be quite powerful emotions attached.  We have that to impart to the next generation (if there are children), and if not, to ourselves and  loved ones around us.  What do we want our legacy to them to be?

We’ll be posting lots of ideas, resources, inspiration and other things related to homemakers,  our homes, our living spaces and family.   Please feel free to tweet, pin, like and share us with your friends and family.
